a friend with benefit: boi ing

0 love notes
I wear make up more often than ever now, and sometimes it's really a pain to put it on in the morning before work. Why? because I'd rather be sleeping than waking up extra early to do the make-up routine. So I went to macy's makeup isle and tried to find something light and easy to apply and also something natural looking. Wah La I found it, benefits boi ing industrial strength concealer. It works amazing I only cover the spots I need to add some bronzer and I'm off.

Benefit Boi ing - $18

For the past few months I've been indulging myself with different lipsticks. From MAC, Revlon, Rimmel & so on, I just can't resist!
But currently I've been reaching into my make-up bag more often for
MAC's Lady Gaga pink lipstick is such a pretty shade of baby pink in my opinion. I try to wear it everyday!

Sigma Makeup

These are hands down the best brushes you will ever get for your money. The lovely people over at sigma makeup sent me a complete brush set AND brush roll. The total for that package is around 100 dollars, which is less than 3 MAC brushes, and included in your complete set you get TWELVE professional brushes. And they come delivered to you in this beautiful sheer bag

The value of these brushes is no joke, the brush roll is this very nice leather, all of the brushes are comparable to MAC brushes (in terms of uses), but I feel as though the might even surpass them in quality. They feel so soft, and they have a brush for your every need. They are simply AMAZING. So all my makeup lovers out there, SAVE YOUR MONEY, and just buy the set from Sigma Makeup, you will NOT regret it!

I’m actually trying to get my hands on the premium set now! I cannot stop raving about these brushes! If you end up ordering some, let us know how you liked them, and tell them DTY sent ya!

From simple to extreme looks Risa's Youtube Tutorial's amaze me. Some of the video's when she has nothing but the basic structure of the make-up I was like "Oh, shit This look will never work" but I was wrong, It comes out amazing. Even if your not going for the full desired look, I'm most certain that you will learn some neat tricks along the way. This just makes me want to bust out my make-up bag & fill my face with color.

Lip Tars. THESE JOINTS ARE CRACK!! the best lip colors ever. they give you the color of a lipstick with the ease of a gloss, the website says they're meant to be mixed. Anyways, I found them because the Queen of Blending (the best MUA everrrrr) did a tutorial/demo on them. Below is that youtube video + the website to cop $12.50 a tube!

I'm seeing a lot of trends for the fall involving dark dark makeup, even black lipstick, come to find out MAC is launching a new "Style Black" collection September 24th.
From “Back to Black” beehive and eyeliner to Steven “80s” Sprouse-in-the-House kohl and fringe to Gareth Pugh London New Goth, Black is simply beyond. Lips, nails, eyes there’s no more dramatic way to declare your desire, separate your sensibility, celebrate your magnetism. They WILL surrender to a Blackfire Glimmerglass, Rapidblack Penultimate Eyeliner, a slash of Greasepaint Stick, and the hot scratch of Baby Goth Girl Nail Lacquer. Style Black is a way of life, a shadowy and mysterious figure of fantasy, even for just one dark and dangerous night.

Unfortunately I dont have collection images for you guys. But I LOVE the fall, I love the makeup the fashion the weather, I love it. So even though it's the middle of the summer, I'm bringing you the latest in fall fashions so you can be one step ahead! So when picking up that fall makeup, try something a bit darker and bolder ;]

Celebrities Without Makeup

The beacons of beauty and inspiration, they make men go insane and pester their wives over why can’t they be like them in someway. The love for the flowing gowns and Gucci purses, the modern day princess and representatives of Goddess Venus on this earth, they are the ruling prima donnas of Hollywood, the femme fatales, the drop-dead-gorgeous starlets. Or not? The truth of the matter is that behind every beautiful Hollywood star is a make up artist! In reality, the fair ladies are freckled, bronze women are pale, behind layers of foundation are aching wrinkles, sinking eyes and dark circles. The lips are chapped and eyebrows stray, lashes are fake and bodies are sagging. They are in every sense of the word, ordinary, with a capital O and every other alphabet that follows. From Salma Hayek to Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria Parker to Hillary Duff, Nicole Kidman to Courtney Cox, Drew Barrymore to Pamela Anderson, Katie Holmes to Britney Spears, here is a gallery that uncovers their real beauty or the lack of it.

DTY: Code 10 Make up Help!

12 love notes

Okay, I've said this before in comments but incase you didn't know, I know nothing about make up! I don't think it's a bad thing that I don't but some females act like that makes me another species or something -__- I do have a kit that I sometimes wear but I'm looking to step my game up in certain areas so I'm coming to you ladies and readers on my knees begging for help!

This is one of my reference pictures because I feel this look is natural and could be recreated with what I already have and when I learn to do the eyeliner.

I had a starter kit of Pur Minerals from Ulta and it comes with some 4 n 1, marble blush, and mineral glow. I bought it maybe June or July 2008 and I just now ran out of 4n1 and these are little starter things so I dont wear this a lot but I'm definitely going to get more. I think I'm good with this brand and when I did wear it, it takes like two minutes to put on so I'm all for that. Plus it doesn't look like a lot and I want it to look as natural as possible. Maybe when I hit level 5, I'll graduate to different blushes and who knows maybe eye shadow!

So here is a list of what I think I'm going to pick up so hopefully you can give me some good recommends of each thing. If you think I'm forgetting something let me know. I'm just looking for basic things really. It would be easier to just get make up done whenever I wanted to look extravagant but there are some basic things I want to learn to do on my own.

a new mineral brush: I just found out you should use different brushes so it's a good thing I don't wear the stuff that often! The kit came with a chisel brush that I got a little damp and had to replace. I thought I did good by buying a Jane brush but I noticed the difference and it seemed to go on heavier and didnt leave that smooth look. I think my Jane brush is messed up so any good brush recommends?

What do you put on before your make up? When I first began, after I washed my face I normally used clean and clear moisturizer or sometimes I'd do vaseline and wash it off. I noticed this made a big difference in the make up so I'm wondering what do other people do?

eye liner: I still don't know the point of this but my mom put it on for me once and I could tell the difference (I just dont remember what it was lol) I'll need eyeliner to have her fill in my eyebrows or add to them or line my eyes. Also, I think I'm just going to do it on the top and not the bottom. Recommends? She already told me to stay away from liquid eye liner .. and I tend to rub my face a lot so something that won't wipe off!

fake eyelashes: I posted the picture of Keri because the first thing I noticed were her eyelashes. They could be real but I'm assuming they are fake for now. I want some that aren't too Halloween ish and look natural (as in length and thickness) but you'd still notice them. Recommends? *for safety purposes I probably won't be doing this myself the first few times lol.

Also, back to that picture of Gabby above, I like her eyelashes too but I bet hers are natural and I probably can get mines to look like that with a little mascara so I'll buy both fake eyelashes and mascara. When I say my lashes are short, I do mean short!

mascara: I was just going to get some of the stuff that said it made your lashes look longer but it was too many! So I decided to go for fake eyelashes, but I saw a video that you need to put mascara on your fake eyelashes so I guess I'll need one for that.

lip gloss: I never wear anything but vaseline or carmex lol and I'm not sure I really like color so I found these pix of Vashtie for reference because I don't think it's a lot of color to whatever she's wearing. I'd like something like this and maybe something a little nude. Recommends?

primer: Idk what this is but a girl in Ulta told me she puts it on to make her make up do something .. stay in place?? I dont remember but I feel as if this could be essential.

I know this was a lot so I'd appreciate any help and recommends! I also promise pictures and details of whatever I get plus pictures when I get my make up done and whenever I do it myself!

xoxo

Bring It Back: 80's Make-Up

0 love notes

Turns out that 80's make up is showing up more and more on the runways and the streets. You know, the bright colors, the thick eyeliner, and the druggie look? Maybe I can feel it, just give me a minute to take it in.

The marquee example of this look had to be Marc Jacobs at his Fall 2009 show, a look created by Francisco Nars which was a very high-drama version of the 80’s eye. Other variations on this makeup included the look seen at Valentino, which was created by Pat McGrath.

SPRING LIST: MADE UP WITH MAKE UP

0 love notes
Buying make-up can be almost like a car payment. I mean 70$ for eyeshadow that's madd!! You can buy almost the same products if your really looking. This is just a short guide of what works for me. The best make-up store for me is definitely Sephora. They have a wide range of products that you can sample and try on & load you with extra's to take home. Although, if the price is to high try to stop by Target or a drugstore & find whats closest to your WANTED look. Also keep in mind instead of getting your nails did for $10.00 you can buy a Ms. Manicure kit and OPI for around $9 and save money in the long run.

BRIGHT EYES

Urban Decay has almost every color of the rainbow in their collection. Perfect for blending for spring days vs. nights.
$16.00 each: Mix & match

or

NOT A PRO
If your not into makeup that much & not into all the colors, you can't go wrong with gold shimmer for the upper eye lid into the crest and under. It's for all over and always looks good during the day and at night.
for less intensity use brown eye liner instead of black it looks more natural and can also be used to fill in your eye brows for a quick fix. (make sure to blend into skin)

GET NAILED!

It's a Sephora x OPI collabo. It'a mazing for spring a black tight dress always looks good with a hot pink polish and will definitly add some detail to a solid outfit.
$9.00 each and Only at a Sephora near you!

Ms. Manicure has great tools to use for manicure's and pedicure's. Plus it's cheap you can buy it at Shaw's or Walmart for about $4.00 for a year round up keep.

HEAVY GLOSSED

Sheer tone lipgloss with shimmer is perfect for reflections from the sun. I find it that clear is too much shine and makes it look like you had too much greasy KFC. So to tone down the gloss get a gloss with color that's close to your skin tone and that has shimmer in it so even when your not in the sun rays your still shinning!
Smashbox $21.00 at Sephora and other fine retailers

CHEEKS
For foundation it's almost a NO brainer. The best is to buy a bronzer and brush softly over your skin. If you need to cover up hit up CVS or a Drug store to match your best tone and if you can't find your exact color buy the closest but darkest to your tone. If you buy lighter it will show more and you'll look paler than you are. I recommend Liquid because it covers better and if your going to be adding bronzer it absorbs the powder so you don't look like a cupcake!

Urban Decay also has whole collection for around $100.00 that you can mix and match to your needs. It's great quality and has everything you need for your empty make-up bags.

Check out their site for how-to's! For great Extreme looks to tweak.
