HELLZ SPRING 2009 DELIVERY II COLLECTION: RENEGADES OF FUNK

This morning I woke up to this in my inbox:

Hellz™ presents the second installment of our Spring '09 collection, Renegades of Funk, a tribute collection to the Electro-Sound of the 80's in NYC. Paying homage to the string of electro 12" records by Soul Sonic Force & Afrika Bambaataa including our all time favorite, "Renegades of Funk," which truly stood on its own without trying to sound (or not sound) like Planet Rock or Looking For The Perfect Beat. It was a song that was a beat of its own, a beat that the Hellz female can nod to!

Adding color, to our often dark color schemes, the new palette took onto shape during a long day at work, when Renegades of Funk was on the tunes, inspiring a vibrant, cultural, funk style often synonymous to Bambaataa. Even with the infusion of brighter colors and femme silhouettes, Hellz' imaginary muse; the badass woman is very much present with her toughness all but heightened by the juxtaposition of soft and hard fabrications.

ABOUT HELLZ A CRIME FOR ALL SEASON

The last time the fashion industry experienced a female liberation movement was during the "bra burning 60's." Bras, high heels, make-up and other items supporting the unattainable, standard of beauty, were lit aflame in a "freedom trash can" to symbolize opposition to sexual oppression.

Traditionally, the womens wear industry has been flooded with hyper-feminine pieces with low necklines and bias cuts leaving females choice less. With little to no options, females were only recently given quality alternatives.

Since 2005, Hellz has provided fashion alternatives for the bold fashionista with edgy tops, jackets, denim and accessories, influenced by all things subversive; from the gritty streets of New York to sexploitation flicks of the 1960's and 1970's. Founder Lanie Alabanza-Barcena, continues to defy al the rules of conformity and any fashion entity that claims a woman's style cannot breach strength, individuality and feminine flair simultaneously.

Kelly B. from P.O.P pops onto the scene with the Princess of the Posse Spring 2009 collection. Leggings included, named gracefully bow legged lol clever! It seems as the weather get's better so does my wardrobe & so does the nails!! For some reason this lookbook feels like a water gun fight is about to go down, and shit I'm totally down with that. So with the heavy anticipation for warm weather, light tank tops, DTY mixtape's bumping out your stereo & summer colored jeweled out nails this line is needed. Although, I must add in that every streetwear ladies line is dropping bombs on us with these prices Geez can we live, while rocking dope threads? I'm going to start saving to buy my favorite piece's that's for sure!! So if your pocket's are really fat head over to POP and grab your favs for the spring season.

MARRIED TO THE MOB SPRING 2009

This is a totally new look for MOB. They still have a cocky attitude not to be mistaken, but the threads are more innovative than MOB has every done. It's their first dress ever ever and it's a twist between a wind breaker zip and and a satin turtle neck. loll But anyways right now it's impossible to grab any gear because the MOB site is under construction, but will be up momentarily. So Don't Trip!!

Thank goodness the Megabus at the bus terminal has wireless for the mac because I would have been so bored this whole hour waiting to head back home to New B on the Datty (lol). Anyways While I was waiting Indie surprised me with something wonderful on the KD blog. It the 1st jumpoff (IN A GOOD WAY) from the Kweenz Destroy Spring 2009 line. It's definitely going to be worth
the wait and thanks Indie for making this a Good Evening.

Um, yeah Dime Piece has always be a cut & sew in town printing, no child labor type of brand so it's no surprise that their amazingness continues.
